We work with a lot of builders and shops supplying a lot of solutions to help power their builds with Coyote Powerplants. Whenever we hit the road we like to stop in with any of those shops in the neighboring area. Recently PBH team member traveled to Houston, TX for an event and made contact with Ekstensive Metal Works from the TV show Texas Metal. Max Dooly of Ekstensive had been working with our team acquiring powertrains for 4 builds recently. We made contact with Max and headed out to the shop for a visit.
Rolling up to the shop we knew we were in the right place as we were met with a giant scrap metal sculpture, A white super duty truck touching the sky, and the flat of the State of Texas flying. We were introduced to the team and given a shop tour. During our visit they were filming new episodes for the upcoming season so we were a bit restricted on what we could photograph and record. The upside was that we did get a chance to watch how the filming is done and meet the production team. Several of the projects under the knife and being filmed were #pbhequipped with our Gen 2 Coyote Crate engines and 6r80 transmissions. Additionally they were rocking our Speed Drive and even Speed Series pulleys. Definitely look for those builds to be on upcoming episodes.
While walking the shop we learned a few new things about Ekstensive. For one they do not just do crazy wild builds. A lot of the projects were in for just air suspension which is one of their specialties. They also manufacture their own line of air ride suspension components for trucks and cars. Looking to just have air ride done? they can do that for you. Ekstensive also has in house fabrication, body, paint, and interior. Along with offering all of this, they carry a full lineup of air ride suspension parts like compressors, tanks, lines, and fittings. They also have a huge catalog of apparel for fans of the shop and the show. We got to watch folks passing through town or visiting stopping by the shop to pick up their own hats and t-shirts in support of the team.
PBH prides itself in working with builders of all levels. From the DIY builder in his home garage to full blown custom shops like Ekstensive. Our solutions help them concentrate on what they do best knowing that we got the powertrain covered from Naturally Aspirated to Supercharged. We want to thank the entire team at Ekstensive Metal Works for showing us around their shop and choosing PBH for their Coyote Powertrain needs.
